The Many Faces of Stress

The word 'stress' is freely tossed about in various contexts, although interestingly, there is no uniformly accepted definition. The majority of us consider stress to be "physical, mental, or emotional strain or tension" (The American Institute of Stress). Your body doesn't have an opinion when it comes to the semantics of stress. Literally anything that disturbs normal internal physiological balance is considered 'stressful' by your body.
